If there is one thing you can always say about WBC Super Bantamweight champion Abner Mares, it is he never shy’s away from a fight or a challenge. The winner of the Showtime Bantamweight tournament has had nothing but tough fights in the past two years with only one of them, a match up with Eric Morel being seen as a showcase fight. Mares rises up to the challenge once more as he will defend his title against the very slick and elusive Anselmo Moreno.
Moreno reminds many fans of Pernell “Sweetpea” Whitaker give that he is a southpaw with a very elusive style and it is for that very reason that Mares should be given applaud for taking on a man of this caliber. Yesterday in Los Angeles, Showtime formally announced the fight as it will take place on November 10th at The Staples Center. In talking with the assembled media and press, this fight is a toss up in their eyes though we believe “Chemito’s” style will give Mares some major obstacles to overcome the night of the fight.
