Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: Money May: ‘I’ve made extraordinary fighters look ordinary; I will make adjustments’

Floyd Mayweather Jr. gave his usual answers to media Wednesday at the official press conference for his upcoming May2 mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao.

The only difference this time is that instead of talking to around the usual 50-75 media members at one of his fight news conferences, this time around 700 credentials were handed out for the event held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Mayweather explained that he has made great fighters look like everyday, run of the mill fighters, something that will be a tough task come Cinco De Mayo weekend.

“I’ve made extraordinary fighters look ordinary and I think that’s a great thing about my career,” Mayweather said. “I didn’t overlook anyone. I took my time and had patients.”

Mayweather didn’t give hall of fame trainer, Freddie Roach, who said that “we’re going to kick his ass,” referring to Money May during the press conference, much credit, stating he’s seen him before.

“You know I’ve faced Freddie Roach before in the past and of course I was victorious,” Mayweather said. “He’s a good trainer, the things Freddie Roach has said, he’s supposed to say. But when it’s all said and done it comes down to the fighters.”

Despite some fans and media members complaining that the fight was made five years too late and such, Mayweather thinks the waiting game actually helped the fights magnitude.

“I think that before if this fight would have happened it wouldn’t be a big,” he said. “The build up. It’s been a build up for years… and now we’re going to make it happen.”
