Juan Manuel Marquez has finally made up his mind on who he wants to fight this upcoming October 12th and it is not a 5th fight with Manny Pacquiao! Surprise! Marquez has instead opted to pass up a huge pay day and take on the current WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley. The two will square off at The Thomas and Mack Center, the same site in which Sergio Martinez took on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on HBO PPV.
Marquez looks to add to his already stellar career, seeking a 5th title at welterweight. If Marquez does achieve this, he will be the first Mexican boxer to do so and could see himself elevated to the top of the heap when it comes to being the greatest among the plethora of legendary Mexican boxers. On the other side of the spectrum, Tim Bradley could validate his controversial win over Manny Pacquiao with a convincing win over Marquez. Bradley is riding a new found high in the eyes of fans as he put his life on the line this last March in a sensational back and forth battle with Ruslan Provodnikov.
Today at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Top Rank staged the official press conference for the bout that will see Marquez and Bradley travel to Mexico next before they hide away in training before they meet again for fight week in Las Vegas.
