How one man interviewed 55 fighters in 5 years to help save the future of boxing

Did you ever once think about quitting your job, selling off your possessions and going on a life quest to fulfill your biggest dreams and ambitions? Well this is exactly what Alexandre Choko did in a quest to interview the legends of the sweet science in order to preserve the stories and knowledge of past and present legends. Choko, who was once a owner of the now famous Tristar gym which houses such MMA fighters as Georges St-Pierre, Rory Macdonald and others sold the gym, and other assets to embark on this personal journey, something in which he attributes was a passion he wanted to share with the world.

So Choko embarked on a five year quest in which he interviewed legends such as George Foreman, “Sugar” Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali and countless others while also meeting with top figures such as Bob Arum, Joe Cortez. Though over the course of those five years, fighters whom became close to Choko passed on, such as Hector “Macho” Camacho, Lou Duva, Angelo Dundee, Alexis Arguello and Carmen Basilio. It touched Choko in a way that makes the printing and knowledge stored in the book that much more precious, “When I look at those interviews again, I cry, I can not help but to think to say that I was so privileged to have them share not only their ring experience but their lives…and sharing their most intimate and fondest memories.”

Choko’s ultimate goal for fans and industry insiders alike after reading the book is that they come out with a greater understanding of the sport but also know and be informed of what needs to be done to keep it alive and thriving-Thus the inspiration for the title of the book, “The Future of Boxing.”
