Report: Bob Arum said Manny Pacquiao has agreed to terms to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Arum on Cotto-Canelo

With talks of progression being made in the Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Manny Pacquiao super-fight growing over the last week, Pacman’s promoter, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, said the Pacquiao has agreed to terms to make the long-dreamed about fight a reality.

Yahoo Sports Kevin Iole broke the news Tuesday quoting Arum saying, ““I want to get some movement here, with bringing Mayweather to the table so we can go out and get everything signed and get the networks together and get the thing finished.”

Iole also cited unnamed sources saying that the fight would be May 2 at the MGM in Las Vegas and that the agreed upon split would be 60/40 in favor of Money May.

The sources stated that that could net Mayweather up to a $120 million payday and of course the public would be paying more to help pay that hefty purse.

The tickets for the bout could reach as high as $5,ooo for the best seats in the house, which could net a live gate of $40 million, which would be double the all-time record of $20 million set by Mayweather versus Canelo Alvarez in 2013.

With everything seemingly in place all that has to be done is Mayweather to sit down and sign his end of the deal that could get the fight that many thought would never happen delivered to the fans.

Arum hopes that Mayweather will step to the plate and make everything official, as Pacquiao’s side has agreed to all his contractual demands.

“I’m not going to put a deadline on there. I’m just going to hope that everybody does the right thing and we get this concluded. It would be really sad if we went through this stuff again like we did before.”

Mayweather and Pacquiao almost fought in 2009, but Pacquiao failing to agree to drug testing for the bout ended any chance the bout would take place.

Arum even went as far as saying that he would move the rumored Miguel Cotto versus Alvarez bout if fighting on Cinco De Mayo weekend means that much to Money May.

For the sake of everyone involved, from the fighters to the promoters all the way down to the fans, let’s hope Mayweather steps up and signs the bout and we can finally see who the best fighter of the last decade really is, even if it is a few years too late.
