The Jamaican-born Nicholas “The Axe Man” Walters will be in search of the biggest win of his career Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California when he takes on former five-division champ and current WBA Super featherweight titlist Nonito Donaire.

The bout is the co-feature to the main event that features the hard-hitting Gennady Golovkin taking on Marco Antonio Rubio on the HBO televised card.

With Walters (24-0, 20 KOs) not being a big name in boxing circles, a win over the more known Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) would be a step in the right direction for his career going forward. The bout marks Walters HBO debut and a solid showing cold send his career to new heights.

“Donaire is a very good champion. We both have speed and power. The difference is intelligence,” Walters said. “I was born to fight. The bigger the fight the better.”

Between both Donaire and Walters, the two combine for a 72 percent knockout win ratio, making a KO likely in the scheduled 12-round affair.

Donaire has gone on record stating the fight will be stopped early and if Walters has his way, it will be in a KO in his favor.

“If Donaire isn’t right, he’s going to get knocked out,” Walters stated. “Maybe five rounds, maybe less. Not sure yet.”

Walters hasn’t exactly faced the best level of competition, but despite his opposition, Walters, the No. 5-ranked featherweight by the Transnational Boxing Rankings board, has drawn the attention of Donaire. That is something Walters commends, since the high profile Filipino could of passed on their bout,

“But you know what?  Donaire stepped up and took this fight” he said. “He didn’t have to. For that, I respect him for getting in the ring with me.”
