With rumors swirling about potential ticket prices for the long-awaited Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Manny Pacquiao super-fight at the MGM Grand on May 2, Top Rank’s Bob Arum explained the hefty price one must pay to be comped the best seats in the house.

“MGM for example will only give ringside tickets to its custoers who have a $250,000 line of credit,” Arum told Gridlocks of ESPN1100 in Las Vegas.

So the usual high limit player won’t get the luxury of being comped seats the what’s expected to be the top-grossing fight in history. Usually, even in other major fights it’s almost a given for big bettors to land great seats.

Also, the tickets that will actually go on sale to the general public, which is expected to be 1,000 or fewer of the 16,000 that will be available, will be priced from $1,000 for the nosebleeds, up to $5,000 for premium seats (h/t Espn.com’s Dan Rafael).

Ticket prices on the secondary market could go for as high as 10 times that price, which can’t be accounted for in the official tally of the fights take. In all, Mayweather-Pacquiao will make tons of money for all involved, directly or indirectly.

So the only the chance the regular Joe might have to watch the bout unless they want to plunk down a large sum of money or max out their credit card will be from the comfort of their own homes, with a PPV price rumored to be around the $100-dollar mark.
